Score guarantee
If your official SAT or ACT score doesn’t go up after 12 weeks of practice in Hourly Prep, we refund your Premium Seasonal purchase from this website.
Effective October 10, 2026
The guarantee in short
Buy Premium Seasonal on hourlyprep.com. Finish at least 3 practice sets a day, on at least 5 days a week, for 12 weeks in a row. Then retake the same official test. If your score isn’t higher than your best score from before you bought, we refund what you paid, including tax.
What it covers
The guarantee covers the Premium Seasonal pass, 12 months of Premium for $90, bought on hourlyprep.com. It refunds the price actually paid for that purchase, including tax.
- Purchases made inside the iPhone or Android app aren’t covered. Apple and Google handle those payments and their refunds.
- Premium Monthly, free Premium from a fee waiver, and other complimentary access aren’t covered.
- Each purchase covers one student and one exam, the SAT or the ACT, chosen when you claim.
- The guarantee doesn’t cover exam fees, travel, other prep services or scholarships.
1. Your starting score
Your starting score is your highest official SAT total or ACT Composite from any test you took before the date of your purchase, for the exam you choose. You don’t need to register it in advance. You tell us your scores when you claim.
- Compare the same exam: SAT to SAT, or ACT to ACT. Paper or digital delivery and approved testing accommodations don’t affect eligibility. Earlier and enhanced ACT Composites both count. Optional ACT science and writing scores aren’t compared.
- Superscores, PSAT or PreACT scores, practice tests and Hourly Prep’s score estimates don’t count as a starting score.
- You need at least one official score from before your purchase. A student already at the exam’s maximum score isn’t eligible.
2. Practice in Hourly Prep
Practice for 12 weeks in a row, starting on any day after your purchase. A week is a seven-day block from that start day. In each week:
- On at least 5 separate days, finish at least 3 practice sets for the exam you chose, signed in to the account that holds your Premium. You can practice in the app or on the web.
- A set counts once you reach its end with at least half of its questions answered. That includes Today’s practice and section, quick, challenge, custom, course, review and retry sets. Full practice tests, placement, the question of the day and single lessons don’t count toward the 3 sets.
That adds up to at least 60 practice days and 180 sets. We check it against the practice history in your Hourly Prep account, so you don’t need to keep a study log.
There’s no minimum accuracy or streak. Wrong answers, slow work and using the AI tutor don’t disqualify you. Sets answered by someone else, by automated tools or by guessing through to the end don’t count.
If an Hourly Prep outage, an access problem or an accessibility need gets in the way, tell support when it happens. Time lost to a confirmed outage won’t count against you, and we’ll confirm any extension in writing.
3. Retake the test
After you finish the 12 weeks, take the same official exam before your 12-month Premium access ends. Your first valid official score after the practice period is your comparison score. It can be released after your access ends.
If your comparison score is the same as or lower than your starting score, you qualify for a refund. Any increase in the SAT total or ACT Composite counts as an improvement. The guarantee doesn’t promise a particular number of points. A cancelled or invalidated score isn’t a comparison score, and we’ll allow a reasonable replacement date if the exam provider cancels your test.
4. Claim your refund
Email [email protected] from the email address on your purchase within 30 days of your comparison score’s release. Include:
- your purchase receipt or reference and the exam you chose;
- every official score you have for that exam with its test date, including your starting score;
- your comparison score, its test date and the date it was released; and
- the start date of your 12 weeks of practice.
Confirm that the scores are accurate and that you did the practice yourself. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian can send the claim with you. Don’t send your card number, exam account password, test questions or score report images.
How we review a claim
A person checks your claim against these conditions and your practice history. Within five business days we confirm we received it and list anything missing. You have at least 14 days to send it.
We send a written decision within 15 business days of receiving the complete claim. If we deny it, the decision names the condition that wasn’t met. You can ask for a second review within 30 days and get a response within 15 business days. There’s no fee to claim.
Deliberately false scores, sets done by someone else or automated activity void the guarantee for that purchase.
Refund payment and your rights
We start an approved refund within five business days, back to your original payment method. Bank processing times vary. Premium from the refunded purchase ends when the refund is issued.
This guarantee is part of the Terms of use. It doesn’t limit your rights under consumer law. Later changes to this page won’t reduce the guarantee for a purchase you’ve already made.
