When is the SAT in 2027?
College Board has three national SAT dates in spring 2027. Deadlines close at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time.

For fall 2027, College Board lists anticipated dates of August 28, September 18, October 9, November 6 and December 4. Registration deadlines for those dates aren’t posted yet.
When is the ACT in 2027?
ACT has four national dates from February to July 2027.

Starting in 2027, July testing is also available in New York. ACT’s projected fall 2027 dates are September 11, October 16 and December 11. The score column is ACT’s initial release date for paper tests. Writing scores come later.
How early should you register?
The two tests run on very different deadlines:
- SAT: the regular deadline is about two weeks before test day, and late registration closes about 11 days before. Late registration costs an extra $38.
- ACT: the regular deadline is about five weeks before test day, and the late deadline is about two and a half weeks before. Late registration costs an extra $42.
Register early anyway. Seats at nearby centers fill up, and early registration gives you time to fix a problem with your photo, ID or device. If you need to borrow a device for the SAT, College Board needs the request at least 30 days before test day. In the U.S., SAT students can now join a waitlist when a center is full.
Which 2027 test date should you choose?
If you’re a junior in the class of 2028, plan for two official attempts with time to study between them, and leave a fall 2027 date as a backup. Here is one way to space it out:

Leave at least a few weeks between tests to study what the first score report showed. Without new practice in between, a quick retake leaves little room to improve. For a week-by-week version, see our SAT study plan or ACT study plan.
If you’re a senior applying this year, look at your earliest college deadline and check that your scores can arrive in time. Some colleges accept scores from tests taken after the application deadline. Confirm that on each college’s admissions site before you count on it.
What about school-day testing in 2027?
If your school gives the SAT or ACT during the school day, that may be your first official score. SAT School Day and the spring PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 run between March 1 and April 30, 2027, on days your school chooses. School and district ACT testing runs from late February through April. You don’t register for these yourself. Your school tells you the date.

Are the fall 2027 SAT and ACT dates final?
No. College Board calls them anticipated and ACT calls them projected. Check again before you plan around one.
When do 2027 SAT scores come out?
College Board lists March 19, May 14 and June 21 for the three spring 2027 dates.
Can I take the SAT and the ACT in the same spring?
Yes. The dates don’t overlap. Focusing on one test after you choose is usually more efficient, so plan both only if your school gives one and you prefer the other.
