Free practice and Premium

Free practice does not require payment. For a Premium web purchase, contact [email protected] with your purchase reference if you were charged twice, did not authorize a purchase, or cannot access Premium. For an in-app purchase, request a refund through Apple or Google Play. Approved refunds end access from that purchase. Premium does not include the legacy score guarantee below. Your statutory refund rights still apply.

Legacy plan: score-improvement money-back guarantee

Complete 12 weeks of study, at least 45 minutes a day on 5 days each week. If the student’s official score does not improve, we will refund your payment after reviewing the requirements below.

This guarantee covers one selected exam, SAT or ACT, for one learner with a qualifying prior official score. It refunds the full annual-access price actually paid, including applicable tax. It does not cover exam fees, travel, other prep services, or scholarships.

This guarantee applies only to annual-access purchases that included it at checkout. Purchases made under other terms retain their original refund rights.

1. Register the starting score

Within 14 days of purchase and before the first counted study week, the parent must email [email protected] with the purchase reference, learner’s first name, selected exam, starting score, test date, study-period start date, and the learner’s time zone. A timely, complete email registers the learner; a delay in our reply does not affect eligibility. We extend enrollment and study deadlines for delays in delivering paid access.

• The baseline is the student’s highest official single-date SAT total or ACT Composite from the 12 months before purchase, taken before starting paid Hourly Prep study. Tell us all official scores in that period for the chosen exam.
• Compare the published single-date total for the same exam: SAT to SAT, or ACT to ACT. Paper or digital delivery and approved testing accommodations do not remove eligibility. We accept legacy and enhanced ACT Composites as comparable; optional Science and Writing scores are not compared. Superscores, PSAT or PreACT scores, practice tests, and our own estimates do not qualify.
• A student without a qualifying prior score, or already at the exam’s maximum score, can use Hourly Prep but is not eligible for this guarantee.
• Choose one exam for the guarantee. Both exams remain included in annual access, but only study for the selected exam counts toward its requirement.

Provide the score and date as text, with the parent’s confirmation that the information matches the official result. Do not send score-report screenshots, test questions, exam-account passwords, or access codes.

We confirm the accepted baseline, selected exam, time zone, start date, deadlines, and policy version by email within five business days. The accepted baseline stays fixed for the guarantee. Any eligibility problem identified after that period can be corrected without losing otherwise qualifying study; we will offer a full refund, even after activation, if our late eligibility notice means the student cannot qualify.

2. Complete the study

Study for 12 consecutive weeks, starting on the date registered at enrollment. A week is a seven-day block from that date, using the registered time zone. In each qualifying week:

• Study the selected exam in Hourly Prep for at least 45 active minutes on at least 5 separate days. Sessions may be split across a day. Extra time on one day cannot replace another day.
• Complete the practice assigned on each qualifying day and review the explanations for missed questions. Count time spent on questions, lessons, explanations, and tutor help related to the selected exam.
• Keep a dated study log with start and end times, breaks, work completed, and mistakes reviewed. A notebook is sufficient; retain it until the claim is resolved.

This totals at least 60 study days and 45 hours. Idle time, leaving the app open, automated answers, another person doing the work, and practice outside Hourly Prep do not count, unless support has agreed in writing to an equivalent activity for an access or accessibility issue.

If the daily assignment takes less than 45 minutes, use the remaining time for additional practice, lessons, or reviewing missed concepts for the selected exam. If suitable work is unavailable, contact support for a documented equivalent. Full tutor transcripts are not required.

There is no minimum accuracy, streak, or mastery score. Getting answers wrong, working slowly, or asking the AI tutor for help does not disqualify a student. Contact support if illness or a disruption requires more time; we will confirm any extension in writing without requiring a diagnosis or full medical record.

Tell support about access failures or needed accessibility adjustments when they arise. We will document a reasonable equivalent or extension before requiring more study. Time lost to a confirmed Hourly Prep outage will not count against the study window or retake deadline.

3. Retake the exam

After completing the study requirement, take the selected official exam before the 12-month access term ends. The first valid official retake after that study is the comparison score. Score release may occur after access ends.

A score equal to or below the registered baseline qualifies for a refund if the other requirements are met. Any increase in the comparable total or Composite is an improvement; this guarantee does not promise a particular number of points. An invalidated or cancelled result is not a comparison score. We will allow a reasonable replacement date for an exam-provider cancellation.

4. Request the refund

Email [email protected] from the purchasing parent’s email within 30 days of the comparison score’s release. Include the purchase reference, learner’s first name, exam and test dates, baseline and comparison scores, release date, and dated study log. The parent and student must confirm that the scores and study record are accurate and the student completed the work.

A timely initial claim preserves the deadline. Within five business days we will acknowledge it and list any missing information. You have at least 14 days to provide it. Any later request must address a specific inconsistency in the information supplied; it cannot add new eligibility requirements or restart the decision period indefinitely.

You do not need to send your full card number, access code, exam-account credentials, or score-report images.

How we review the student’s study

A person reviews the enrollment, score information, submitted work, session history, and dated study log against these published requirements. Dashboard study minutes are estimates and do not determine eligibility on their own. Missing app records can be supported by the study log and other relevant information.

We may ask about specific gaps or inconsistencies. We will not deny a claim solely because of a low score, fast or slow answers, tutor use, or a tracking failure. Deliberately false scores, fabricated logs, automated activity, or work done by someone else do not qualify.

We will send a written decision within 15 business days after receiving the requested information, and no later than 30 business days after the initial claim unless you request more time to respond. If denied, the decision will identify the unmet requirement and supporting records. The parent may request a second review within 30 days, submit corrections, and receive a response within 15 business days of that request. There is no claim or review fee.

Seven-day cancellation for unused access

Separately from the score guarantee, you may request a full refund within seven days of purchase if the learner access code has not been redeemed. This is a cancellation window, not a seven-day trial after activation.

Request an unused-access cancellation by email. Include the parent account email, learner’s first name, purchase date, and receipt reference.

We also review duplicate charges, promptly reported unauthorized purchases, and technical failures that prevent access and cannot be resolved by support. Outside these situations and the score guarantee, unused time, a changed exam date, or a decision not to study does not by itself qualify for a refund.

Refund payment and your rights

Approved refunds return the amount paid for annual access and applicable tax to the original payment method. We initiate the refund within five business days of approval; bank processing time varies. Refunded access and its learner code are deactivated. Any amount already refunded for that purchase is deducted so the total refund does not exceed the original payment.

This policy is part of the Terms of use. It does not limit rights under applicable consumer law. Later policy changes will not reduce the guarantee attached to your purchase.
